Bio
Dr. Sek Chai is a Co-Founder and the Chief Technology Officer for Latent AI. A 20-year technology veteran, Sek designs Latent AI’s technology strategy and roadmaps, leads Latent AI’s project team, and works closely with customers and partners. His areas of expertise include machine learning, computer vision, and efficient high-performance computing. Sek also co-developed the AI technologies that form the basis of Latent AI products.
Earlier in his career, Sek was a technical director in SRI International. In this role, he managed and developed the technology portfolio and strategy for low-power embedded computer vision and machine learning systems. He secured multi-million-dollar project funding from both government and commercial sources. He managed, recruited, and hired top-notch, best-in-class talent.
Sek is the lead PI for programs such as DARPA Lifelong Learning Machines (L2M), DARPA Radio Frequency Machine Learning Systems (RFMLS), IARPA RAVEN, DARPA Adaptable Sensor (ADAPT), ONR Approximate Computing, and NSF Resilient Computing. He led his team to develop autonomous systems in robotics, surveillance and AI systems that dynamically adapt to contextual reasoning. Sek is a senior member of IEEE and ACM. He has a BSEE, MSEE, and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
