Retired U.S. Army Colonel

Colonel Timothy J. MacDonald, a native of Sidney, NY and a graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland, was commissioned as an Army Second Lieutenant through ROTC in 1994 originally as an Artillery Officer later transitioning to Military Police. COL MacDonald's 25 year career culminated as the Army Fellow to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City. Recently retired from active duty, he is now working in the Military and Aerospace Industry where he remains involved in defense related programs. His Key assignments include Company Fire Support Officer, 1-503rd IN BN, 2nd ID, Camp Casey, Korea; Platoon Leader Echo Battery, 7th Field Artillery, Fort Drum, NY; G-3 Air 25th Infantry Division Headquarters, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; National Support Element Deputy G3 25th ID, Hungary; Aide-de-Camp to the Chief of Staff of Stability Forces in Bosnia- Herzegovina; Executive Officer Military Transition Team, Operation Iraqi Freedom; S3 for 6th Recruiting Brigade in Las Vegas, Nevada; Executive Officer to the United States Forces Iraq Chief of Staff in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Protection Directorate Operations Officer at United States Army South in San Antonio, Texas; 4th Infantry Division Provost Marshal and Chief of Protection; commander, 502D MP Battalion (CID); Assistant Executive Officer to the Headquarters, Department of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G3-5/7 and United States Army Europe G34 Chief of Protection and Provost Marshal. Subsequently, he served as the Commander of the 18th Military Police Brigade in Vilseck, Germany. Prior to his final assignment he served as the Director of Operations for Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa. During a 4-year break in active military service he worked in the Aerospace industry in multiple roles to include international business development and operations management. COL MacDonald’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Sociology from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1994 and he holds a Master’s Degree in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University. His military education includes the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advance Courses, the Joint Firepower Control Course, Intermediate Level Education and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2 OLC), Bronze Star Medal (3 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon (3), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Army Service Ribbon. His combat skill badges include the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
