Embedded Linux on the shop floor? It's already there!
This session is part of our Smart Manufacturing Day / Building the Metaverse Virtual Conference. Registration/event page here.
If you look around on your shop floor, chances are that you don’t even notice most of the computers there. These are things, such as HVAC or air compressors, but also video cameras both for surveillance and inspection, PLCs and building automation.
Many of these devices run Linux in their controllers.
This presentation will give a short overview of the concepts and technology stack commonly found in embedded linux systems and the benefits they provide. Based on that we take a look at the challenges that this brings, such as license compliance requirements and how to keep those devices updated.
